Hurray!!!
No signs of life yet in the spud beds but the lettuce and onions are coming through!!!

(Should I water them as it hasn't rained for 4 days????)
You can take a horse to water....but a pencil must be lead!!
(No chemicals ......yet!)

Good rule of thumb - or finger - about when to water.  Stick your finger in the ground. Is it damp?

It's surprising how dry the top can be when there is still plenty of moisture under the surface.

I think that's my problem sometimes John, soil looks dry, then you water again and they get too wet and die on you!

Organic where possible, unless it involves the snails that now seem to be eating the slug pellets for fun
