hi, its been a good few months with our three 'ladies' apart from an incident early on, all seemed to be going wellm until...
Our cuckoo maran has been in the nesting box for two days now and were a little concerned that maybe the silkie we have is actually a male and the maran is broody?
is this possible?  Suggestions or help would be great

A hen can go broody even if there is no cockerel running with her Most of mine did last year
Have you seen the silkie doing the do with your hens?

Are you able to post a pic of the silkie?

My cuckoo maran went broody with no cockerel, so she became a surrogat mum to 8 bantam eggs - 6 of which made it and she appears to be the bestest mum around - teaching them what to do, talking to them and being very protective
