Spent compost is useful on clay to improve soil structure. I'm one for using organic chicken manure as fertiliser.  Has worked so far for me.

I haven't tried chicken pellets so far but might do - believe they are much cleaner and drier to handle than farm yard muck. Do they give the same results tho ?

chicken poo is high in nitrogen but does not open up the soil structure in the same way as FYM does - but the nutrient levels in FYM are much less predictable than pelleted chicken poo.

Although both are muck, they have two different emphases

Thanks Yorkie - can anyone else advise on poo potential re nutrient levels etc ? (knew I should have followed chemistry at school - but didn't have the brains..... )
