can you re-use compost by adding anything to it?

I have lots of tubs full soon to be emptied... but want to putin some garlic and over wintering onions...

I only ever put mine in my general compost bin.Compost only has enough nutrients to feed anything for about 6 weeks.

I throw mine into my compost bin as well, but I make sure to mix it in with other layers so the used stuff gets revitalized better.

I do the same as the others, put it back in the composter, I put it in lyers with other stuff, dont know if it makes any difference but thought it might regernerate
