I have just been to put our ducks in - pouring rain - mud everywhere and they have been digging in it all day. They are as black as can be be -- filthy beaks, chests, feet, heads -- the lot --- and I swear they have a stupid grin all over their faces as well. Is this a genetic defect ?? Why are they not all cuddly and fluffy and yellow like disney ducks ?? Again??

Kate - pragmatic and practical advice as ever . But I spot a flaw with black ducks -- They are difficult enough to count at night as it is !! Still if I leave them a bit longer they might swim before bedtime and the straw is fresh so no doubt they will be white again by morning. Ready to start all over again --- the little dears. .

Just get some more ducklings !  Then you get the fluffy yellow ones and the dirty off-white ones
