A few questions
« on: April 27, 2009, 17:10 »
The babies are coming on for 4 weeks old now and still indoors under the lamp but spending a few hours in the garden on the warm sunny days and loving it! :D
When can they go outside in their new home?when do i change the food from chick crumbs?and do they need injections etc as my vet couldnt answer that one?
I need to learn so much!! :D

Hi there fruitfull! chickies can move onto growers pellets at about 6-8 wks some people mix a bit of growers in with the crumb from about 4 wks. If they are well feathered up and indoors I would have their lamp off during the day at least (my 3 and 5 weekers are off heat but indoors still) 5-6 wks i would say they could go outside! I would go by their feathering though if they still have fluffy bits i would leave it a bit longer! as for injections mainly large breeders/commercial growers etc do this and would need starting from day old! the vaccines only come in large (1000's) quantities :D hope this helps
