I sowed my french beans in cardboard loo roll tubes, in a heated propagator. 100% germinated and they are fine looking seedlings.

But the loo roll tubes have gone all mouldy. As i don't intend to plant them out for some weeks should I get them out of mouldy tubes or will they be OK ?

the mould is not detrimental but it could be a sign of overwatering so don't overdo it

thanks compostqueen, i did avoid watering until today when the compost looked dry even though the mould was still going strong.

I think I'll space them out so there is some air circulating in between pots.

probably a good idea. I generally get this when I use loo rolls too - I doubt its uncommon.

I did answer this but it disappeared into the ether 

I use those blue plastic mushroom boxes to stand the filled bog rolls up in. They are high sided and the rolls stand up well if you pack them close together. Just ease up on the water and the mould will be a thing of the past  I use them for beans, peas and corns oh and sweet peas

It just seems to be a natural side effect of things grown in paper containers, but has never harmed any crop or deterred any grower to my knowledge - in fact many grow this way year after year, either in Richy pots or loo rolls. So I wouldn't worry, and just mind how moist you keep them, as CQ says.

Personally I didn't like loo rolls. Those I tried took a l-o-n-g time to degrade in the soil, and I was forever having to help them along before the roots became strangled.
