Chick with watery poo!
« on: April 26, 2009, 19:11 »
My little araucanas (13 days old) and leghorns (aprox 5 wks) are doing lovely healthy looking poops! but my 2 (3-4 wk old) dorkings are doing poo's which look normal but come out with lots of water! and they make a noise when they do them! (dont need to explain the noise, you can imagine!) they are off the heat but still tucked up indoors and are healthy, lively, eating and drinking well (they are on medicated crumb) and seem to have grown in just the 3 days we have had them!! Can anyone tell me whats wrong?? or is it just A:the breed? B: immaturity? and what i can do to help if its not right? (I had a babcock who always did noisey wet poo's till she matured!) Any help appreciated

I have just put mine out side now permanently in a hay box (old timers method that I have been told) Anywho mine are 5 weeks old and as I caught mine, to transfer them out side I noticed a few watery poos in the brooder. I am keeping an eye on them.  I have not noticed any noise. But I am not really near the chicks much.

I would think as small dose would not do them any harm.

Hi CL!  In Aunties poo thread, she says watery poops can be a sign of being too hot?  Is that possible?

Thanks Grannie I did think that but the lounge is unheated and they have no heat!? its only the little araucanas that have the heat lamp! they seem really healthy other than that and are thriving?? Am keeping them well away from the others just in case! all different breeds are in seperate pens anyway! I wouldnt say its like diarhia it soft with the water in it! in fact once it has landed on the shavings it looks normal after a while? Might just be paranoid but i want to be safe not sorry!
