Oh balls - thanks Ice!

Thanks to Ice for the suggestion of using plastic balls on top of my canes.

Here is my pea bed with peas just growing, canes to hold the 'scarecrow' CDs and pea sticks with string.  Oh, and don't forget the balls!

I got 100 pink ones for £4.99 which I thought was a bargain!

I got them in Argos.  They do either a multi-coloured set or a pink set.  I couldn't resist!

Oh and thanks Peapod, would love her to see what I have done following her advice.

I think this is a great idea...  :)  :)  :)

My dad uses canes for his home-garden veg patch. Although he is pretty nifty for a 94 year old and his eye-sight (when it come to reading) is as good as mine, it worries me that he might forget and catch his face / eyes on a cane.

I'm going to look out for a set of these for his birthday.... and hope that I can persuade him to use them!!  ::)

Balls from Argos:

I almost started searching under "gardening"... ::) ..  so having found them in the children's section I tried giving a web-link.... but it didn't work!  :(

Look for "100 Play Ball Set"

I hope it works!   ;)  A really good idea - Thank you!  :)

Sorry to hear of your bad news.... My neighbours on the plot gave up completely a couple of weeks back.... despite having a strong perimeter fence the little b***ers had spent ages throwing stones and smashed every roof pane and one complete side in a 10x8 greenhouse  >:(  >:(  :(

What is the purpose of the balls?

To look pretty of course!

No, only joking.  They are to stop you poking your eye out on the stick when you bend down to weed, harvest, tie up etc.  Quite dangerous things cane and pea stick tops.
