but don't have the felt on the foor, because apparantly it encourages red mite.
you'd be okay to stain/varnish/paint it.
although, I'm not sure how you'd stop the rain getting if it's t&G

I would say that is an old wives tail. If you roof is sealed from the inside the red mite could live under the felt yes but it would not be able to get into the shed.  I thinks a lot of painters mate to cover all the cracks will be required or a good spray with paraffin once or twice a year.

you might be right (i avoided the pun, see?)
i suppose if the cracks etc were covered with paint or varnish it would be okay - i think it's because it makes a warm and dry environment, but if it's the roof....?
