When i planted my raspberry canes i put them in too far apart, so when i stood back and looked at my handiwork (as you do) i remembered previous chat about how easy they were as cuttings :blink: so i poked in pruned off canes between the plants.
I kept going out to see if there were any signs of life from bushes and/or cuttings.
The first few showed green buds at the begining of the week
Pottering about just now i had nowhere for my new welsh onions so thought i'd pull up the last raspberry in the row, convinced from growth on the others..that it was a cutting and wasn't taking.  WRONG it was a plant and 3 white shoots were coming up from the roots.
I've hastily replanted it, but it goes to show that some of the canes with fat buds are on cuttings and not plants . Fingers crossed they are making the roots to go with the buds.

That's exactly where a lot of new raspberry plants come from.....cuttings, provided you put the right end into the ground. Hardy little so-and-so's. Soon we'll hear stories of how you're inundated with raspberry plants
