stoopid question alert!!

I cant remember when I can put my onion seedlings in...is it May?

May sounds fine to me.... when they are big enough to handle and the weather's warm but not overly hot.....

I tend to stick mine in when I've time as long as it's not too cold  ::)

Haste

Top of the form!!  ;) but it seems I had it wrong....... wrong type of riddling  ::)

Yours is more fun

Thanks - I need a compliment after a hard day at the chalk-face!!  ;) So, just for you......

Four men were in a boat on the lake. The boat turned over, and all four men sink to the bottom of the lake, yet not a single man got wet! Why?

'Cos the lake was filled with dry-cleaning fluid?

Always do my runners Mid April. Frost still got some of them last year though & had to re-sow. Those I sowed at the end of May caught up!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

More onion sets to get in, get my trenches ready for my spuds, pot up some onions sown from seed, get my pead bed ready and some makeshift supports, and get my Munty bean frame built.  And it's my birthday tomorrow so I'll have to fit all that in around opening pressies, eating cake and playing pass the parcel  ;)

Happy brthday!!  :)

Thank you  :D

Got some seed trays, plant labels and a new hand fork which I'd asked for, I'll put them to good use later.

All the hard graft of soil preparation was done at least three weeks ago so am just waiting for the weather now.

It's blowing a hooligan here and is a bit chilly as a result so have decided to hold back on planting outside.  Lost stuff last year from starting outside too early for the north east so am planting in seed trays on all available surfaces at home - think outside tomato, cucumber and pepper seeds, marrow and courgette seeds, leeks and sunflowers.  Might just try one or two peas in pots if I can find another space.

Garden centre and local garden shop are already selling lettuces and cabbage in trays supposedly fit to plant out already - fine if you have a very sheltered garden I suppose but they are very spindly wonders and don't appeal to my buying sense.

Reckon that the frost last weekend has wrecked the first carrot sowing as well as the onion seeds (plenty of sets in though so not the end of the world and plenty more carrot seeds) so that will learn me.

Blow! Now I've gone and given the game away!!  >:( There was me making our to be clever  ::)

I am going to plant my first ever veggies on my plot tomorrow - potatoes.  Went and got a scaffolding board today (thank you Lotty Boy) so I don't stamp all over my nicely dug bed.  I am so excited to actually be planting something lovely rather than digging up something evil!

I like the 4 men in a boat! :)  I'll pass that on to my pal in Arizona.  Anyway, today, I prepared the bed for the peas, had a cup of tea 8), I planted (forgive my spelling ) Nerstushums (climber ones), had a cup of tea and a bite to eat :nowink:, put the chryanths in separate pots, put the caulis, cabbages and sprouts in the cold frame, had another cup of tea. 8)  Tom made some labels (bits of plastic at the end of a bit of cane) ::) for whatever we plant, had another cup of tea, had a chat with the neighbours ;), then went home to watch the National - mine didn't come in, its probably catching up to mine of last year.

Out Saturday for a very rare trundle round the country-side....

Sunday is the day for the plot - sunshine all the way!  :)

Just a few jobs to do before I can escape with a seed packet in my hand  ;)

I've potted on toms and put some strawberries in a hanging basket. Today I'll prick out some stuff (more toms, aubergines, peppers, par-cel, parsleys, summer savory, lemon balm, snapdragons, pansies) from seedtrays, add more compost to spud bags as they're coming up through the surface, start a couple more salad crates in the greenhouse, start nasturtiums and more peas, and maybe butternut squash and Hamburg parsley (although I could leave the last two for a couple of weeks). Plus have a weeding session. It looks like the Easter weekend is going to be pants weather-wise which is a big shame.
