Broad beans
« on: March 25, 2009, 15:29 »
How big do they grow? I need to find some canes for them.

I think I should just stick um in the ground with a cane and let um do the thing? am I doing anything wrong?

They grow about 3 ft high.

Put some stout stakes at each and of the row and about every 6 ft along it and tie strong string between them at various heights to support the plants.

I'll see if I have a picture

Quick question - realized i have not sown enough for a second double row, is there still time to plant more or is it not worth it?

Its always worth it :)

The wind this week has made a complete mess of the ones I started in pots and theres no sign of the direct sown ones yet. I plan on starting some more off this weekend weather permitting.

I was still sowing them well into april last year.

Soak your beans over night to swell them.

Soak your beans over night to swell them.

Yes I should do that. How far apart from each plant do you sow yours?
