Hello good people been a while since posted . Have been working down on the plot and been really pleased to have some good weather for a change , all the beds have been fed where needed and ready to go . The thing is i think i have bought to many seed potatoes , so my question is when i plant them can i put two seeds set together !!!. Iwas thinking i would just get more spuds or would it be just to over crowded i would be very gratefull to hear all your sound advice , Many thanks cc.

Hi, i don't think it will work one plant is alocated a certain area to thrive by putting in two seed i think you will get the same amount of spuds.

You'd probably only get small potatoes as there wouldnt be enough feed or water in the soil area being shared. So you would be no better off than planting just 1.

IMO Best just to plant what you have room for, could you put the surplus to grow in tubs/bags? or share with somebody else?

I think you would just choke all of the potatoes as they would all be fighting for space.
Plant what you can and Ebay the rest or stick them in pots.

Last season we did a bit of an experiment with the kids, putting just one seed potato in a large pot, and three in another one that was the same size. At the end of the season when we emptied them out, the rough weight of the spuds was the same, with fairly large ones from the single, na dloads more small ones from the three

I think I'd give them to someone on a neighbouring plot - they might return the favour later with something you are short of...... Just a thought
