I usually sow about March time.

Quite a few will know this, but I use old compost in a cat litter tray, seed spaced about 1" apart.

You get nearly 100% germination and 96 to a tray. Grown somewhere where the slugs can't get to them - voila! Nearly 100 pristine radish.

Later sowings are done outside.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I sow mine outside. I'm trying French Breakfast this year, not tried them before. Does anyone know of a very strong tasting variety as i like them like that. Seem to remember eating some years ago that were quite strong on the tongue
Life is a heap of manure. Growing one minute, stinking the next.

Do you mean you grow them completely indoors?  Also how do you stop them going leggy, does the foil behind them stop the leggyness well.

No, the first sowings are done in the greenhouse, but not just yet. When they have germinated and grown a bit, they will be moved outside to grow on.

In later months, they germinate outside.

I see no reason why you can't start a bit earlier & keep them in the greenhouse though.

Not even I use ali foil in the greenhouse!

oh I see.  I experimented  with 10 seeds in a seed tray in the heated conservatory, but they went very leggy, don't have a green house so.  Anyway didn't work so will start some in March instead.

I can't claim any experience of radish but it might have been the heat that made them leggy.
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".
