Newbie question on potatoes
« on: January 27, 2009, 11:55 »
Hi

This is the first time (what with an allotment and all!) that I have the luxury of wondering this, so I am really sorry if it is a stupid question  :)

On the rows that I grow and then harvest my earlies, and can I resow some more potatoes for a later harvest?

Thanks!

i think the answer is no as you are not supposed to plant potatoes where potatoes have been, all to do with crop rotation and not encouraging diseases

No there's probably won't be enough time in the year, also they are quite greedy feeders, so better to use the ground for something else like leeks and give them a good start with a dressing of blood fish and bone  :D

Leeks are a favourite to dob in after early spuds.

The ground has recently been dug & it's easy to dib the holes.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
