anyone in leiestershire??? Free chickens on gumtree
« on: January 04, 2009, 12:29 »
Hi there,
I am devastated we aren't ready to take these chickens on yet (I have asked what time frame she's operating on as it would boot me up the butt to get the fencing sorted!!)
Basically a free coop and four good layers (ex batt but healthy) available.

"
i have 4 lovely hens free to a good home, reason for parting with them is we are moving house, and cannot take them with us.

they are very good layers, even at this time of year are still laying 3 eggs a day.

i am giving their coop for free with them.

only genuine calls please. they are rescued ex battery hens, so must go to a good caring home,as they had a very bad start in life, and have spent the summer getting strong, they are now enjoying life. the picture was taken not long after they arrived, all their feathers have now grown back."

Here is where they will be when I get them home.

I must confess my first idea was to give them to an ex farmer  friend of my good lady where we get our eggs from. but then a little seed of an alternative began to grow and you know the rest.
I now have the problem of how to look after them when I go away in Febuary to my daughter in the Lake district

Good luck with finding a hen sitter!  You'll find someone - the promise of free eggs for a while normally works

Lucky, lucky birds having that space to live in; it's absolutely beautiful and I'll bet they'll love it!
