Well, a sheet of tabloid (of half a Sunday Times sheet) makes a pot about 3" square by about 4.5" deep. If yoy use a sheet half the size, you get a pot 2" square by 3" deep.  I imagine that would be good for one sweetcorn seed, but I've not tried it - I'll have a go this year myself,  but I imagine a small paper pot would be equivalent to a peat pot that Dave's mentioned.  You can just use newspaper, but I stick a staple in each side just to make it more solid.
