My plot is seroiusly waterlogged in heavy clay. I had to dig a deep ditch at the far end in order to collect as much as possible. I know have a battery operated hand pump which I use to empty as much as possible when im on the plot.

Bear in mind, we have had an exceptionaly bad year for rain this year and most plots seem to be more waterlogged than they would normally be as the water hasn't really had time to disperse.

In order to protect any future crops, I have created raised beds and have noticed already that it has made a DRASTIC improvement to the beds and it is working. I would strongly recommend going raised beds as theres little more disheartening than growing your baby plants and after a few days finding them underwater rotting away.

my father had this problem on his allotment and solved it by digging a trench down one side and putting a grip ( long pipe with holes in) in it running to the nearest ditch.of course this depends on u having a ditch running round the edge of the allotment site.

I did a similar thing on my first lottie, where the paths were compacted forming a dam at the corner of my plot. I dug a trench across the path filled the bottom with sticks and small branches (the thinner stuff on top) running the length of it and refilled to remake the path. Worked a treat. :)
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

So what happened to yer bum?
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.
