Thanks to all who advised me re my onion sets.

I have just got back from the lotty having planted a row of onions , a row of shallots , half a row of garlic and half a row of elephant garlic

All safely secured from the birds with some netting. I did decide to pop a bit of sand in the drills as the earth did seem very wet .... thought it wouldn't do any harm.

So , in the 3 weeks I have had my plot , I've dug over 3 quarters of my 3.5 rod , manured and fertilized the corner for the onions etc , shed is up , compost bin is in place , and most importantly kettle and stove are in the shed .

I'm quite chuffed with my progress   :D
The sun is always shining .... somewhere!

SalB: Just read that you are in Herts. I planted my overwintering onions and have about 20 each of Radar and Senshyu left over. If you want them AND you are within reasonable distance of say Stevenage, say 10-12 miles, I could drop them off for you.

Choice is yours but they are doing not a lot and will probably be binned sometime when I get round to it.

Hmmm , uploading pics to forums is not my forte! Basically I have no idea how to do it!

I'll try and remember to take the camera down tomorrow and take some pics but I'll need help uploading them!

Am gutted that I didn't take a pic before I started , but I can take one of the plot next door that hasn't been started on yet so is in the same state that mine was in .... I do have a pic of my plot in August when I was told which one I could have , but there was a full 2 months more weed growth before I was actually allowed to start digging!
