If we don't get to the shops quick enough, and they are already starting into growth will they be ok? (I'm thinking of Black currants and Raspberries in particular.)
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

So the 9th?

More the merrier in my opinion, need three black current (assuming they're thornless, got enough of my own thorny ones!!) and 6 raspberry canes, already got the others., well, have those as well, but need more.
We use chemicals in this garden, just as god intended

my thinking as well

this week ive already spent £8 on a blackberry from Wyvale! it will all be part of my fruit and nut hedge.

The goal is to have softfruit as the understory, with pear/apple etc espaliers making up the height of the fence. Well, why have laylandii or privet when you can have fruit?

If anyone wants some rooting blackcurrant canes, I've loads I've pruned from my b'currant bush with shoots on 'em. Let me know where to meet you, I'll be very glad to pass them on. Also got loads of parsley & chives if anyone wants some, shame to waste them. Have already potted some up for the winter.

Incidentally, I got my original 1 from poundland and have had a good crop of currants every yr - 6-10lbs, with very little care given.  Have bought my mum gooseberry & raspberry bushes from poundland.

Going for the redcurrant, how far apart do I plant them.

Anyone know if they are thorney?

I want to put a row of thorney fruit bushes down the side of our allotment that backes onto public common and is a prime location for vandal break ins (due to the councils oh-so-effective single strip of barbed wire

I bought blackberry bushes from Lidl back in the spring and they turned out to be very heavy cropping and delicious raspberries!! I am still picking them now, the foot high branches are loaded but they are def not blackberries :o

Are they bushes or seeds?

If they are seeds I can see if I can get some at my Lidl and post them on.
