Protovoy is listed as a miniature cabbage in the Hessayon book.
Not tried it myself though.

I'll be interested in this as I'm fed up of massive cabbages    You want a meal for two, and a cabbage which doesn't take up half of the plot.  I grew savoy Ormskirk to find that they are absolutely blooming huge

I'd like a savoy about the size of a Hispi. Does one exist?  Is the Protovoy a savoy ?

Its amazing how we see things diffently. I grew Hispi this year and every time I took one home the wife said I need to get another one.
This year if I can find them I am going to grow Stone head as my neigbouring plot holder. Yes they take up more room but only the same as two hispis.
Anyone know where to get Stonehead as Suttons and T&M are not showing them.

although not a traditional winter cabbage, the old boys on our site grow Greyhound all year round with what looks like great success, trying it me self this year.

MINICOLE brilliant little cabbages that will stand for 3-4 months when mature I have grown them under the brussel sprouts so you save even more space.

Mincole are brilliant and can grow bigger than a football but the foliage is very neat.  I want a little Savoy too and I'll be happy (dunt take much  :D )

Moles!  With their catalogue you get a lovely wall planner which you can write down all your seed sowing times  :D

I've been growing a cabbage from Zimbabwe that does not heart up and the leaves are snapped off as required. Strong flavoured and economic with space as there is always greens available. Just snap off enough for the dinner.

I've been growing Greyhound for a few years now, both in the garden and now on the allotment. It's a good one because you can plant quite close together and pull the first ones as spring greens and let the others get bigger. As well as planting in spring for an autumn crop you can plant them in the late summer/early autumn and get an early crop the following year.

I'm growing Greyhound too.  Similar to Hispi but more winter hardy and just right for 2 people.
