Aubergine Plant am i going to be in trouble?!

Hi everyone,

I have Aubergine plants on my allotment that my father in law grew. He comes and takes them as he wants them and we eat a few & give them away. Everyone comments how great they are!
Anyway, as the fruits have been taken off and there is no more I have been pulling the plant up. Now I have been told that I should have left them in because they will carry on growing more. I did notice some had flowers still but I presumed that it was too late in the year to grow more :roll:

Am I going to be in trouble with the old boy when he next visits???

I think if there are no more fruits now there won't be time for any to grow to eatable size before the first frosts so I've been composting my plants too
