I did have one outside thanks to one of the dogs  :roll:
Chickens weren't intrested but Crumb (goose) Loved it  :lol:

There's no problem in giving them cuttlefish, whats good for your budgie should be good for your hens. We pick it up from the beach here, but guess what ? Just like Vember said, mine didn't give it any attention.

I think the advice not to give it must be for the bits you find on the beach, as they will contain salt. If you soak them in fresh water, and change the water a couple of times I don't see why you shouldn't give them to chooks. Sounds like a myth disseminated by people who sell other forms of calcium.
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

Munty said some time ago that the pet shop ones are OK as they have been well washed but the ones off the beach have too much salt in them.

That might be why your chooks didn't touch them Bodger.
