Got these two last night and what can i say... i hate you John!
The longing sense of desire for an allotment has increased tenfold and it's all your fault!

Anyone else got the Hessyon book? Which bits do you find most useful in it?

Doc Hessayon is great for identifying pests and diseases, but most of the treatments he recommends are obsolete in my book.
Cheese makes everything better.

the most useful part for me is the monthly guide on sowing, planting and lifting for each plant.

I agree with Ice;  a lot of Dr. H's control methods are using chemicals and he doesn't offer much in the way of organic control, but as for the identification of pests and diseases I don't think you can get better than his book!

Well looks like it will be John's book sooner rather than later.

During the first year I used the Doc and Carol Kleins books as my starting bible. Mainly for identifing seed types.
However I soon realised that information was missing and I set about making a month by month diary for this year and added little titbits of info on various veg products from fellow allotment holders, internet and comments on this forum, alas its a bit messy.
Then I noticed Johns book, have only just purchased it but it seems to achieve in a tidy format what I have been trying to do.
