Hello,
They can catch a few things from birds which dogs and cats dont have so you should be careful - but that doesnt mean wrap them in polythene and never let them see the light of day.

Just ensure hands gets washed after touching etc.

Things they (and adults) can catch include some of the worm species, salmonella, and some respiratotry disorders (aspergillosis also known as farmers lung). Although all are uncommon.

Just ensure you dont let bedding get too damp where aspergillosis would like to grow. Using wood shavings rather than straw helps with this.

Also long as all hens look healthy etc. dont worry just let them enjoy the chooks! And as for all the 'I did it and it did me know harm' comments, look at us all now!!! We look after chcikens by day and talk about them all evening... are you sure its done us no harm! Ha ha  :D
