garlic doesnt seem very effective and made a pepper spray,fired it through the compressor and half gassed myself,any tips would be welcome,thanks

I've got some "gold label get rid" crawling insect powder for mites on livestock thats organic, it says suitable for plant use, effective against aphids and completely safe if ingested.
So it might work for spider mites, got mine off ebay and it really worked well on my hens mites. It contains a fungus that breaks down the waxy coating of insects so they dry out and die.
Or you could try this from defenders but you would have to wait until its warmer.

The powder you can use is diatomaceous earth, it is completely organic and as Richyrich says it can be used on animals and all food stuffs safely te link will explain better

Its about £9. 50 for 4lb on e-bay but I dont know how much the postage is cant find it in England at the moment tho
