my girls are soooo naughty- within 5 minutes of me changing their water, they fill the gravity feeder with mud!!!!! i've raised it off the ground by 3 block paving bricks but they still get mud in the water. all the dispensers seem to be in this style- are there any that prevent this problem-if so where can i get them from.
i'm not cooking, vyvian! i'm just trying to nail the plates to the table!

Hi CG.

You can get trough types that hang on wire mesh. Or, if you're clever, you could try and make your own. We have the basic vacuum hopper type sat on a couple of bricks and they don't make a mess in it. The odd bit of bark or leaf gets in but nothing more than that.

Are they climbing onto the rim ?

Depending on how many chickens you have you could try using a water bottle - I have the largest one you can find and they usually drink about 3/4 of it a day.  I have two chickens so would probably think this method ok only for 2-4 chickens else you'd end up with bottles everywhere!

As our girls seem to spill any water if the drinkers are hanging inside the house, we usually leave them outside, but they sit on top and poop in the rim bit, dirty girls!!!!

But I'd like some of these!!!!

Put your dispenser under cover, so that the area around it stays dry.
