I have recently recieved a compost bin and have started to fill it up with some autumn leaves kitchen waste and cardboard this is a plastic bin how would i help speed up the process would it help if i put some manure in it or any other stuff thanks

yes mate shove some manure in but only a bit ata a time and add it as you put other stuff in, so you make a compost sandwich .. welcomem to the gang as well from me  :wink:

Leaves are best handles separately - just pile them into a wire net cage or into a plastic bag with airholes and leave for a year.

Human wee is sterile as it leaves the container and is high in nitrogen so it will help get a heap going.  Poo is a different matter and dangerous by the way.

In a plastic bin you can't turn the compost.  Add some fibrous material like straw every now and then to keep it open textured and aerated.

i reckon your bang on there jingerpot .£ 369 . chokes spluuter . i doubt very much as it works anyways ,the blurb says turn in for 2 weeks then pour into a proper bin to " mature " , another one them magic tools taking ya money off ya . bit like buying a wormery for ya manure heap  :roll:

no buy my worms to turn ya kitchen waste  into the new revolutionary garden  organic material , only £50 a pack  but 2 get 1 free .... and i had an argument with a """ new "" organic  gardening lady guru  who swore this was the new way forward , she simply refused to believe that worms had been doing it for free for millions of years lolo, she actually called me a moron as it was a newly created idea and was going to make her a fortune ... :roll:
