i have managed to get back my 6' 4 shed from my mum { who used it for storing bbqs after i decided i did not need it but now i want it back} so my ckicks will have a house , how many chicks would fit comfortably in that size shed .

was hoping 10 would be fine .

well i really am hoping on ex battries chicks , but i dont know what breed they are actually i dont know any breeds of hens so i need to learn about that .lol

What are you doing for them during the day ? do they free range or are you making a run for them  or are you just keeping them in the shed like barn hens ?

well the run wil  be 6 metres by 10 metres and 6 foot high maybe 8 foot , they will have plenty of things to play an search around in. they wil be out at about 6 in the morning once i am home from the horses an then in around 9,30 at nite maybe a bit earlier in the winter.

crumbs your horses get up earlier than mine in the morning, :shock:  as for the shed, i've got 28 in mine, they have roosts and nesting boxes, but those that prefer sleep together in a heap on the floor, but that's all they do in there (apart from lay) as they free range over 40 acres during the day, don't let them out till 8 am tho.

lol i am mucking out by 5,30 am but i do start work  at 7 am .

this is the time of year when all ours are out  bliss, no mucking out., i usually stagger out in my pj's to make sure they are all still there at 8am and let the chickens out on my way back.
