Hi,

I had my first rpoper harvest today. I've had the odd thing here and there but this is the first basket full and how proud (Sad) was I!

There were Spuds, Spinach, Brocolli, Calabrese, Onions, Garlic, Carrots, Lettuce, Peas, Strawberries and raspberries.

Fridge is full!  :D

I just picked my first Champion of England peas and they are SO nice. Too bad none made it to the house    The yard is now littered with empty peapods. Yummmm.

Well done Cudders - that's a great haul. How do you choose what to eat first!

I love it when you start getting more than the odd thing as it makes it soo easy to decide what to eat - whatever's just been picked from the garden/allotment.

Last night we had potatoes with shallots and garlic, topped with an egg from our hens, broad beans and peas and raspberries to follow. Probably not in any cookery book but delicious  :D

Thanks guys.

Defo makes it all worth while and it'll save me a small fortune now the produce is coming on line.

It's intesting how many people are now asking for some veg! Seems they are not happy paying shop prices for week old stock.. This first year is only really tesing the water so havent enough to really sell to everyone but maybe I can get some cash for next years seeds. Defo going to grow more next year and I've already learned from my mistakes.

The plot thing is so additctive, never dreamed I'd have one a few years ago, I'd have laughed if you'd told me that!

even eating something as potentially boring like lettuce is a revelation when you grow it yourself.  I dished up some Valmaine (a type of cos) the other day at tea and my husband sat chomping it with relish and remarked how tasty it was. Plus that just picked snap and crunch you get as it's dead fresh

You won't ever look back now Cudders.   Grow some Little Gem lettuces, dead easy and their boat shaped leaves are perfect for holding pools of mayo or salad dressing

Well done. You have every right to feel proud. It's all your hard work that has produced that.

Congrats Cudders, I hope it all tastes fantastic! The only harvest I've had so far is salad leaves, which was exciting enough, so I can't wait for a real haul! It's not sad to be proud and excited about something you've grown!  :D
