was interested if anyone had grown one and if so,was the stem woody enough to actually make a walking stick?

i havent grown them but i did see them being grown on a plot in portsmouth and the chap .. radio tech did dry and make a stick from one .it had a lovely finish with the places the leaves joined it .french polished affect was lovly.. this site is dedicated to the them

With my dodgy hip it might be faster to grow one of these than to wait for the NHS

thanks for the link muntjac,made for good reading,must be worth a go, a few of these beggars on in the corner of my plot to get the competition talking. and yeah,been waiting 3 years for a knee,thanks labour :evil:

Grew some for fun six years ago. Yes had a few long enough for walking sticks. one still holds our gate open but started to split open this week.Must buy some more seeds.
