we've just picked all the currants off our black currant bush, when is it ok to take prunings and stick 'em in ground to see if they grow?

please advise

I take cuttings when I thin out the branches in January, don't know if that's right but all I did was stick them in the ground and they all took. I had to give loads away before they took over.

October is the recommended time, then move them to final position next October.

I don't know the proper time/way to take the cuttings, but I have about 10 little bushes of different sizes, all have fruited (as yet, with only a few currants each!) each one of them was taken at different times over the past couple of years.  They were ALL bits of broken branches/twigs just stuck in pots.

all soft fruit roots like crazy, pretty much any time of year- in fact you gotta weed them out-, the thing is when you get the best growth and performance out of them, really.
