I have recently found a Royal Sherwood Foresters regimental badge whilst digging the old topsoil out of our greenhouse. Quite strange as this was my Grandad's regiment and he passed away several years before we purchased our house!
Give weeds an inch and they'll take your yard

Reading about all this 'junk' found, is it an unwritten rule on allotments that when a plot is empty everyone uses it as a dumping ground for all their old dodo?

Well - first post as I was actually browsing for info on adding nitrogen once something's already been planted!

So far, found all sorts - clay marble, pottery from the mid 1700s back through the medieval period to late Roman, and the best piece, a small flint head from around 8,000 years ago! That one was just lying on top of the ground! Must have a couple of biscuit tins full and I've only dug around 120 square feet!

Proves human's are a scummy bunch ;)

I have just dug this up, it looks like a throttle control off a 1953 Morris Miner.
It is the only object I have ever found and will treasure it for the rest of my life.
Just need to find the rest now.
