Lots of bits of clay pipe stems too.  Broken glass bottles (very old thick glass) and loads of whole (and bits) of very eroded oyster shells.

Knowing how knowledgable you are I suppose you know that at one time oysters were cheaper than meat and a lot were eaten in the London area and Kent. Cheapest protein for the poor.
Oh for those halcyon days of England long ago

I think oysters were a staple of the common man for centuries before too.

I've found a few pipe stems here and bits of broken china. And a few bits of animal bone rotting away.

I would love to find something really old. This has only been dry land for a couple of centuries I think. Agricultural until 1920.

Where we used to live, I found 2 or 3 pipe bowls and bits of stem along with old china and bottles. I think it was a rubbish heap when it was just fields.

Don't know if this counts but in patch of mud found loads of old bottles from taround 1870's +, i live in the Victorian housing bit of Middlesbrough. Over at the allotment, found loads of shells, nail, glass, bottles also from 1850 onwards. Just put all the glass bottles in the recycling tub. Think the shells and duck eggs are from the beck next to my plot.

They were indeed Ruby !

The Romans created oyster beds at Whitstable and they are still there.  There's a couple of brilliant Oyster restaurants in Whitstable right on the sea shore  8)

I have found a cream piece of pottery with the word 'Time' written in blue.

And I also found a small white ornament of a Father Christmas sitting in an aeroplane, minus its wings!

I dug up a small thin disc about 7" in diameter. It was black and had a small hole in the center. I am wondering if this was some sort of record?
