Each time we change the water in our fish tank (holds 50+ litres and we're down to 1 goldfish now) we hose the contents onto the garden plants and boy do they thrive! Are there any veg / salads that I cannot pour some onto to give them a feed? Thanks

Wouldn't think so, it's big lumps of poo you have to avoid for carrots etc.!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Thanks DD. I've read that aquarium water is high in nitrates etc., so if once a week I fed my veg, toms etc at soil level rather than showering them with the water, it'd be as good as any feed? Should I dilute the water more so I don't overfeed?

Couldnt you perhaps downsize your goldfishs home now youve only got the one. 50 litres is a lot of water.
Oh for those halcyon days of England long ago

Also, how often do you change the water? And do you change ALL of the water at once, or small amounts in stages?

I would but it's part of a unit that we had built around/under it.
Water change depends on the amount of time we have to do it. Every few months or when the tank & fish are looking ready, the fish is scooped out and put into a nursery tank, the entire contents are drained and poured around the garden. The ornaments & gravel are scrubbed and replaced and the water left to de-chlorinate and reach room temp for a few hours before the fish is put back.
More frequently, the sides of the tank are cleaned of algae and every couple of weeks, some of the water is removed and replaced with fresh water. I could now have a use for that water.

buy more fish for that sized tank!

Get some freshwater shrimp or a catfish/suckerfish if you want less of a job cleaning algae. They thrive off the stuff, i put a few shrimp in to have a small colony of them cleaning for my grandparents... works wonders!
