Perhaps a few sticky threads or a 'FAQS' would help us newbies?

As I said in another post, I know nothing about this subject, so I tend to keep my nose - and other anatomical parts out! You'll find a few stickies & FAQ's in the 'Poultry - Information' forum.

Whats all this about stickies and your nose DD ?

I think if I had to search through the forum while I was in the middle of a crisis, THAT would make me fed up and irritated. You might as well read a Chook book :( This forum is fab and the humour and warmth far outweighs any frustrations with repeated topics  And, as was said earlier, if you dont like it dont read it     :D  In my opinion :D
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most!!

But we need new jokes too! I don't want to keep reading the same old jokes! I agree with Porfor too - how would we  ever make online friends without the chance of electronic chat?!

It's good to talk :!:

(has that been said somewhere before, it would make a good advertising slogan   )

I never tire of giving advice to members no matter how many times I do it,  each persons problem is unique to them and advice must be tailored to
fit each situation.

Now who has any more poo pictures

I think we've been down the road of specialised threads for individual items before and it didn't work.

I remember being referred to look up the specific thread and found that to be quite off putting as a newbie! Thankfully that doesn't happen any more.

It's much nicer to have converstaions with people, I like the fact that the more experienced members here take the time to answer my, often stupid,  questions - and you never know when I know more about a subject I may be able to offer advice too.  :D

And there's been many members who are, thankfully, very knowledgeable and offer advice straight off.

...and if I post any photos of my problem, the board would be closed down instantly !

I dont find recurring post at all irritating but that could be because I'm still learning about all this chook stuff.  If posts seem to be repeating stuff thats already been chewed over then don't bother reading it.  Simple as!

When I first started looking for info about keeping chickens I found this forum and another one (which will remain nameless  :D ).  The other one was useful for the first couple of weeks, but because everything on it is kept 'tidy' - so  you can post questions on 'health' in one place and 'housing' in another and 'breeds' somewhere else again - but it never really felt to me as though there's a community there.  The information is useful, especially if you want something in a hurry, but I don't bother going on there any more because there's no sense of shared experience.  Or humour.  Or Babe's bad influence.  Or the feeling that people round here are genuinely keen to see each other succeed and be happy with their hens (and their lives, come to that  :) )

And I will gladly my own voice to the chorus of thanks to people like Aunty and Bodger and Babe and Foxy and Grannie Annie and Muntjac (and the rest of you   ) all of whom reply to all our 'silly' questions with such patience and goodwill, and who go further and offer us direct support when we need it (for which I will be eternally grateful).  So there.

And as for Rob's problem ... wasn't it something to do with wrinkles    :?:
Nobody said this was going to be easy ... but some days are better than others!

I second that Peggy you put all what I was thinking only you did it better :)  I did try but sounded gobble de gook so gave up

i find these pages such entertaining reading.

I know that if i have a problem this is where i want to come for help and advice, and as so many have said before me, (so sorry to be boring and repeat a previous point) its lovely to be able to have the "just for me" touch. it makes the advice so much more personal, and you really do feel that the people that respond really want to help.

I come by to read the pages on a daily basis, and you pick and choose what you want to read... free will, personal choice and all that.... thankyou to those special people that can find the time to reply to the same ole runny poo questions, and any other newbie favorites....without you i would still be worried to death!

I'm so excited to read every one's comments :!: You make all we try to do here worthwhile, you bring a (happy) tear to my eye.

I'd like to echo your sentiments across all the forums and thank all those wonderful people who give their time and knowledge to help others, and to those who are helped and gain the knowledge and experience to go on to advise others in there turn.  It's great too see it happening  8)

Thanks to all the moderators who ensure the smooth and happy running of the forums and especial thanks to John, without whom.... etc etc etc

Oh... and thanks Kizza for starting this topic although no one has agreed with you.  I hope we've changed your mind  :D

Dear Confused Old Duffer

It is people like you who help to contribute the the information on these forums.  I would be very grateful if you would send me a picture of the non-poo for inclusion in our information topic.  I sugest your Beswicks either need to strain a bit more or perhaps the old chap omitted to tell you that you needed to feed them, are you sure they are still alive or are they in your freezer perhaps
