I started Marigolds off some time ago for companion planting with my chilies/peppers/tomatoes.
I am going to plant mine up now actually, they are beginning to flower.

I have used sweet peas, marigolds, poppies and though I have not used them YET, I hear that poached egg plant is very good.   If you have the room I would suggest lavender and Rosemary as they are covered in bees in my garden!   :D

There is a thread on here called companion planting that will tell you.
Oh for those halcyon days of England long ago

Mrs. DD grew some poppies last year.

She grew about 100 times more this year & didn't even sow any seed!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Nasturtiums & tansy too. Once grown you never need to plant nasturtiums again (I found). They self-seed year after year & flower different & multiple shades of yellow/ gold, red & cream from mid summer through to first frost, edible too I believe. They scramble everywhere, cross ground, up shed & fence, seem to prefer well drained soil & love sun  :D .

Chamomile is said to be very very good for the garden and plants and for you and is dead easy to get your own herb tea out of it.

Poppies can stay with you forever, as hinted, but not overly invasive.

Anything you like really will make for a more varied planting.  8)

All flowering herbs - as mentioned - are brilliant at giving a buzz of life to a garden.

Galliarda - spelling - and pouched egg plants are noted for attracting hover flies.

Whatever is your thing.
