Plant/Weed ID?

Can anyone confirm the name of this plant from the West Mercia Constabulary 40th Anniversary Garden at Malvern last weekend. The guy on the stand told me the name but I forgot it. All I remember is it began with An..... I think its a Anchusa but I'm not totally sure.

I've also got this plant/weed in the corner of my allotment. Does anyone know what it is and is it invasive.

The first one does look like an anchusa,the second one is definitely
a Vinca probably major,hope this helps

I have a lovely variegated Vinca in my herbaceous border. I just pull it up where I don't want it.

So do I. And I wouldn't call it invasive either, just spreading.

There is though a difference, I think between major and minor, the former only roots at tip, the later all along the stalk, hope I got that right.

Anyhow, not a prob at all and very pretty indeed.

BTW, I thought it was forget-me-nots in the first picture, isn't it just the taller purple stalked things the alkanet? :?

Alkanet?.....too tall for forget me nots and darker blue,
the taller purple stalked things look like dutch iris to me

Forget-me-nots come in a lot of sizes and shades, even colours, but on my screen it's just nice vivid mid-blue, what we actually call forget-me-not blue.

Not talking purple, well would call, soft lilac meself Iris. Stalks.

Ooo I am excited - as a newbie I did not feel I could help with questions, but we have some plants that look like both of those in our garden. The first one looks like a forget-me-not, and the second looks like periwinkle that we bought and planted recently.

I might be wrong though, I dont know that much yet
