Snap, daffs here too.

Would someone please tell my tree ferns that it's WINTER.
One of them, despite being wrapped (fronds left exposed) and a few frosts, is having the nerve to throw out a new frond.

Weeds still growing and Val lost all but one of her begonias the other night - incredible to have one pot left at this time of year.

The clematis threw up buds but some have just been frosted, the verbena is still flowering.I have a freak lettuce that is still growing and producing tender leaves, the rocket is looking a bit sad since it was evicted from the big pot needed for a Christmas tree but will be ok for salad on boxing day.Does grass ever stop growing? The wet weather means that we have long grass and a nice mud path developing from house to veg.

Went to pick my Christmas veg today, and my parsnips are sprouting new leaves - thought they weren't supposed to do this until spring?

Oliveview - hope you've had a good time too - as for your daffs, well you have enough of the good life already!

We are lucky to have two springs in Spain ..the autumn and the spring...what happens between can vary emensely. We were snowed in for a day the wednesday before Christmas and had a few nights down to 4 degrees. Now it is sunny . Was 11 centigrade at mudnight, 18 yeterday lunch in the shade but 33 in the sun for a siesta break in building some new raised beds.
Unfortunately many things think it's spring but that causes few problems on the vwegetable plot. Peas and broad beans - and companion planted sweet peas are doing well. Picked last tomators and peppers for Christmas..the snow finished off the plants.
