I have just found green fly on my strawberries does anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of them and to prevent them from coming back

water them off, hose spray is good but not many folks can use them at the lotty, so watering can and rub them off with your fingers. Washing up water works well

You can spray them with insecticide but better still cover them with fleece or Enviromesh so you don't have to resort to chemicals.  Those in the fields are under membrane these days
