So far I've copper tape, diama-something soil and organic slug pellets. The pond won't be dug for a while so no frogs for a year but I'm also doing the jars of beer (carling lager, not the good stuff). Added to that I'll pop raised boards out for them to congregate under which I'll remove and 'clean' during the day. So, with all that will I have some veg left to eat? Any other handy hints?

I'm about to start 9pm slug patrols, can pick off over a 100 a night easily. I dashed out in the rain today for a quick check round and discovered that the row of carrots that had germinated last week have gone    I am going in for the kill with slugs this year.

An acquaintance of mine says he lost 40% of his crop to slugs and snails. Nematodes reduced that to just 5%. Still, nematodes are a bit pricey.

I'm trying crushed eggshells round the cabbages, not expecting it to work, but worth a try!

There only four slugs doing serious damage in garden plants, one of them is an underground fellow other two are half way underground, so anything just on top is only dealing with tip of the iceburg, so to say.

Encourage toads and the like to your garden.

Same here, apart from the odd very small one or two.  I think the nesting blackbirds are doing a good job for me on this one.  I have found two onion sets pulled out of the soil, but have simply put them back and two out of over a hundred is worth it.
