Can anyone tell me what these are?
« on: April 04, 2008, 11:08 »
I have had some plants spring up in the garden in the last couple of weeks, and I am not sure what they are. The previous owner did not leave the garden looking great, so am not sure if she planted anything.

Any help gratefully recieved, before I dig them up!!!

Can't place the top one I've seen it before but ....

Bottom pic looks like a weed we get, I bet they are all connected under the soil via runners.

Second one deffinately a weed

The first 'Lords and Ladies' maybe but definately a cultivated plant can't think of the real name but I'd keep it.

Know the feeling.

They're etched on my subconcious after years of trying to get rid. They self seed like a disease.

Top one is definitely not lily of the valley as I've eradicted a considerable amount of it recently. The flowering bit resembles Arum Italicum but I don't think that's it. Must wait until it flowers as I'm sure it's a flowering plant rather than a flowering weed.

I'm with Richy on the second one one, don't know what the weed is called, but don't think it's willow herb, the first one my money is on a scilla species/variety, which are flowering now, come in white, pink and all shades of blue.
