These green layers started out as crosses and IMO and, thats just what they are. See my thread 'a spot of breeding' and consider breeding some of your own. £25.00 a bird IMO is a bad joke.

I think that the fact there is such a great upsurge in the hobby of people keeping  chickens is great for the chickens and the people involved. What I don't think is great, is the fact that there are unscrupulous people taking advantage of inexperienced poultry keepers by charging extortionate prices for chickens and the equipment connected to keeping them.

Supply and demand - market forces - unscrupulous people taking advantage - unknowledgable people taken advantage of.

Has always and will always happen - sadly

Looking for cheap legbars is like looking for hen's teeth

Yes I agree with that, but unfortunately we have people who are new to the game of poultry keeping and through no fault of their own, they are unaware of the true state of supply and demand within the poultry industry.

£6 for legbars is certainly a bargain.  I don't think I'd want them if they had teeth like that though Babe.  It'd be more than just a peck when you hand fed them

I didn't just mean poultry Bodger I meant ALL areas of life  :(

I'm one for impulse buying in all walks of life and as a result of impatience and lack of knowledge, its often only later on that I realise that I've paid over the odds for something. There's always someone out there ready to take advantage of a mug.

Just remember folks, with the economy as it is at present, we are in a buyers market.

You know the old country adage Bodger:

As the water rat said after his rabbit fiancée left him for a hare, “a vole and his bunny are soon parted”.
