We keep rabbits and feed them on as much green stuff as possible.

However, I've received conflicting advice about feeding cauliflower greens to rabbits.

I'd sooner not find out first hand that they are indeed poisonous - does anyone know for sure?

Failing that, they'll have to go on the compost heap but a free meal is a free meal!!!

Be careful how much greens they get as too much of anything isn't good for them.  Rabbits tummies are easily upset and bloat can kill them within hours.  Dried 'suparabbit' type pellets are the best thing because they can't just pick out the bits they like best and greens should be just a treat!

My vet gave me a leaflet after one of my rabbits had problems with their teeth.  The leaflet said rabbits should be fed on mainly grass or hay with a small bowl of pellets given at night.  Since I had to have my poor rabbits eye removed I have since kept to the vets recomendations.

As for cauli leaves mine get a little bit and haven't come to any harm.

I have to agree with chicken soup on that one, rabbits are to be kept on a mainly grass/ hay diet, which is absolutely vital for the abrasion of their ever growing teeth!!!!
I always recommend bits and pieces of fresh vegetables on top of this. There is no need for concentrates unless you are beefing your rabbits up for the pot ;)

rabbits are vegetarians, and so eat all vegetables....however lettuce is a no no. the only time lettuce should be fed is as medication, and under strict supervision. lettuce can kill a rabbit. all other greens are fine little and often.

Most greens are ok, and most roots, the watchword is moderation, they will even eat things that are slightely poisonous, and then eat something else that counteracts that poison, but thats in the wild, so we must moderate their feeding for them :)  :)
