Strawberries vs slugs strategy

I'm interested in how you manage strawberries particularly in this slugmontrous year. Do you...

A) Pick them slightly early and allow them ripen them at home?

If your strawberries have been nibbled by slugs (too much to cut off) do you

1) Leave the fruit on the plant as a sacrificial fruit (until they go mouldy or get completely eaten)
2) Remove and dispose of them.

Having finally got some plants that fruit well after a hiatus of many years I'm trying to work out the best approach.

I used Strulch under them this year and it seems to have deterred the huge numbers of slugs around and the fruit is pretty much unscathed.

I’d alway pick off damaged fruit as it just encourages more slugs and the onset of botritus and associated spores.

Interesting. I've used it around my asparagus and have had less slug damage. Food for thought....

I live in Ireland so it’s slugs and snails by the bucket load. I have sprinkled blue granule slug killer all around the plants and bought these strawberry support stands on Temu and put a net over it so the birds can’t get at them and it worked wonders. All my strawberries remain in tact and I can leave them on the plants until fully ripened.

This year I've been picking them a bit under ripe but have noticed woodlice in some of the eaten strawberries, do they eat them or just go into the holes the slug create? If they eat them, what deterrents have you used as I've not really seen this before?
