[Grubbypaws]

Has any one any idea about this caterpillar that I have just found on my blueberry bush? To its left there seems to be a cocoon containing eggs. Should I nurture it or remove it?

Well Grubbypaws, curioser and curioser.  To my untrained eyes (and a follower of Mr Attenborough)  it looks as though the caterpillar has been got at by a intestinal predator!

The nest of eggs I have no idea but I hope you keep us in the know about its progress.

Why do you think it has been got by a predator? I would love to know. I have put it back in with the blueberries as 1 caterpillar cant do that much damage. The eggs are in a bug pot which I will keep an eye on.

The catterpillar looks as though it has been fossilized (but we only see it stationary) which gave the impression to me of it been eaten from within.  If it still has the ability to move, then that's different!  I shall search for a name.

It is still moving so alive. If you could come up with a name that would be great! I have searched and searched. I thought that with the  its flat face it wouldnt be too hard to ID but so far no luck.

It looks a bit like the hawk moth caterpillars, but a bit dehydrated.
