I have been given a roll of coir matting, 2metre x 1metre. I could keep it and cut up next year for hanging baskets but I am preparing a new raised bed and wonder if it might be suitable to line the bottom of the bed. It would be on a weed free(hopefully) soil with 4-6inches of compost on top. I have no idea how long it would take to rot down or how it might affect drainage. Any ideas?
