A 50:50 mix with compost was used this year for potatoes in buckets and tomatoes in smaller pots than I usually use so I could get more in the growhouse and greenhouse and it worked really well holding enough moisture in the soil, I did feed both crops the potato mix had fertiliser in the bottom where the seed potatoes were at but none higher up the bucket, and the toms were feed weekly.

just setting some autumn beans in shed in the coir  cant believe for 69pence you get a small block that when water added it fills a washing up bowl 10 litres

i used it to grow my gardeners delight but was disappointed. they only grew 75% of normal height and yielded about 30% of normal fruit. i doubt i'd use it again unless i mix it as earlier post said

Some of the compressed blocks of coir contain no nutrients at all, so you need to add fertiliser to grow things in it.

I've used it in the past, but only to improve heavy soil.

I mixed it with compost for its water retaining properties
