I'm keen to grow these (for the black eye peas) where did you get them please? Just looking online and can only find one supplier - Amazon have them but they're v expensive!

sorry about the time taken to respond.  How about trying a health food shop?  They are usually bursing with all types of beans.

You can sometimes find black-eyed peas in the dried bean section of the grocery, and these should produce seedlings / a crop unless they have been treated so they don't germinate.

Would the ones from a tin work?

Probably not - they're likely to have been heat treated to seal the tin etc.!
